Melbourne to Wangaratta (1 Day)
Whilst heading to Wangaratta with your starting point in Melbourne there are a number of interesting diversions that could be used to break up the drive.
In the town of Beveridge you can stop to see the house where the legendary bushranger Ned Kelly was born, still standing on the original site.

Violet Town also makes an enjoyable stop with its art galleries, antique shops and friendly country pubs.  At this point a slight detour along the Strathbogie Ranges scenic drives could also be very rewarding.
Benalla rewards visitors with the Historic Botanic and Rose Gardens, the internationally recognised Benalla Regional Art Gallery and the Costume and Pioneer Museum and Visitor Information Centre
