Bairnsdale - Melbourne (1 Day)
While travelling back to Melbourne, the town of Sale has the peaceful Sale Common Wetlands and the Gippsland Regional Art Gallery that are both well worth a reflective  pause.

A stop at Morwell's Powerworks Museum rewards the adventurous with a fascinating interactive view of the coal mining industry, giant dredges and the option of joining a tour of one of three open cut mines and then see the impressive technology inside a power station.  However, don't forget the beautiful Morwell Rose gardens or the Latrobe Regional Gallery which, as one of Eastern Victorias premier art galleries, houses an impressive collection of contemporary Australian Art.

As you pass through the town of Moe consider stopping at the Gippsland Heritage Park, the Edward Hunter Bush Reserve or pausing for a flutter at the Moe Racing Club.
In Yarragon local wines and award wining produce may be sampled or check out the quality original artworks at a unique gallery. Peruse the many gift and craft stores or browse the antiques in one of Gippsland's premier antique stores.
Finally, peruse Warragul's Historic Architecture or enjoy the art at the West Gippsland Art Centre.

These are some of the great destinations to see and things to do while travelling between Bairnsdale and Melbourne. Be sure to add them to your list of places to visit.
